About

The Project

The Women’s Leadership Immersion (WLI) is an intensive program for a group of 30-40 junior and senior female identifying students, held every January, that provides critical skills as they prepare for their next steps. As an experiential learning opportunity, participants move back to campus early from winter break in order to take part in the immersion. Facilitated by a variety of female leaders from UD and the City of Dayton community, this program offers women a chance to explore leadership, networking, career advancement, and financial health in the context of navigating vocation. Additionally, they engage in a (how to) networking social and service project in the Dayton community. The primary goal of WLI is to provide female identifying UD students with a cost-free experience that examines vocation and leadership through a Marianist lens, while preparing them with skills needed for life after graduation.

The program will reflect the values and bold life examples of Adele de Batz de Trenquelleon and Marie-Therese Charlotte de Lamourous, the women founders of the Marianists.

2020 Theme: Be Aware. Be Authentic. Be An Advocate.

Who We Are

Student Leadership Programs is partnering with the Women's Center, Career Services, the Multi-Ethnic Education and Engagement Center, the Office of Mission and Rector, Housing and Residence Life, and the Fitz Center for Leadership in Community to host this four-day immersion.

The Impact

This program provides women in attendance with an opportunity to explore leadership and vocation in an immersive women's only environment.  Past attendees have described the program as empowering, a "must attend," and the only experience they've had for women, by women.

"As a woman of color, I knew it was going to be a challenge for myself as I transition into the workplace. For me, the Women's Leadership Immersion showed me that I wasn't the only one. The guest speakers have given me the courage to continue to strive for greatness and continue to follow my dreams. No on said it would be easy but so far it has been worth it." - Ana Etienne, 2018
