The Project
We are raising money to create an Active Emergency Response Video. The University of Dayton Department of Public Safety provides many safety sessions every year and one of the most important and most requested is our session on Active Emergency Response. This new video, unique to the University of Dayton campus, will replace an outdated, generic video currently used in these presentations. This new video will allow us to more effectively instruct University of Dayton faculty, staff, and students how to best protect themselves in a campus emergency of violence. These types of emergencies include what we traditionally call "active shooter" incidents as well as other acts of violence that target large numbers of people.
Who We Are
The Department of Public Safety is a service oriented organization which provides police, emergency medical, student transportation, and parking services to the University community 24 hours per day, seven days a week. Our offices are located on the first floor of Fitz Hall. We are committed to building cooperative relationships within the University community by providing quality service with integrity, respect, and fairness. We are dedicated to promoting safety through education, communication and crime prevention.
The Impact
This Active Emergency Response Video will teach the members of the University of Dayton community how to best prepare for and react to campus emergencies. Simply put, there are actions community members can take during these events that will help mitigate safety risks to themselves and others. Should an incident of violence happen on campus, your donations to this project could help save lives.
What Your Gifts Will Do
Your gifts to support this project will fund the many steps involved in producing a high-quality instructional video including its development, filming, and production. Your support of our project allows the Department of Public Safety to provide specialized education tailored to our unique campus environment and better prepare community members to respond to a campus emergency.

Thanks for Your Support!
Best practices of modern policing suggest that effective policing occurs when the police and the public they serve are in partnership with one another. Your support of this project is an excellent example of that partnership. We sincerely thank each and every one of you for your support.

Thanks so much for continuing to spread the word about Public Safety's attempt to crowdfund the money necessary to make an updated, UD-specific Active Threat Response Training video.
We only have three days left and we need your help to reach our goal.
Consider one of the following helpful actions:
- Challenge a group to donate -- Contact the group via text or email and give them a challenge--"If 10 of my friends donate $5 to the campaign, I will [fill in your reward here]." For me it would be, "If 10 of my friends donate $5 to the campaign, I will share my secret chocolate chip cookie recipe with the group."
- Raise colleague awareness -- Make sure your colleagues know about the campaign and that it only has three days remaining. This is especially important for those who expressed an interest in donating but have not done so yet. Ask your colleagues to consider chipping in even just $1. Every dollar counts!
- Connect with the safety-conscious -- If someone on campus has benefited from the services of Public Safety, including through our free training, suggest they consider a donation. It's a great way to expand our training curriculum and help us reach more people.
I'm optimistic, but I also know that accomplishing a fundraising goal requires concentrated effort. You can help us by joining in our campaign's "grind time" and pushing us toward success!
