About

Experiential Learning Student Stipends:

Professional Development for Students with Financial Need

The Project: Career Services and the Office of Experiential Learning at the University of Dayton have partnered to raise funds to support the professional development of students with financial need.  This fund will provide students with stipends to participate in conferences, training seminars, workshops, or unpaid internships that will contribute to their academic and career success.  Professional development opportunities at non-profit organizations will be given preference, reflecting our institutional values of social justice and the common good. As a University dedicated to diversity, equity, and inclusion, providing all students equal access to quality professional development opportunities is essential.

Who We Are: This Flyer Funder initiative is a partnership between Career Services and the Office of Experiential Learning at the University of Dayton. From experience mentoring and advising students, Career Services and the Office of Experiential Learning have recognized a tangible need to offer financial assistance to students who are interested in and qualified for professional development activities.

The Impact: Professional development opportunities are tremendously valuable forms of experiential learning; they enhance the University of Dayton educational experience for students and help them develop important skills to be successful after graduation.  This project will make experiential learning experiences more accessible for students with financial need.

What Your Gifts Will Do: Students with financial need may be unable to cover the cost of professional development activities such as conferences, training seminars, and internships. The stipends will help students cover the cost of workshop registration fees, conference travel costs, unpaid internships in non-profit settings, supplies and professional attire, and living expenses such as food and housing while they are participating in their professional development activities.

Share this Message: I invite you to support our students' professional development by sharing this message with friends, family, and colleagues, and clicking the Give Now button and making a contribution today.  Thank you for your support which will make a significant impact on the lives of our students!

Updates

On behalf of the offices of Experiential Learning and Career Services, thank you so much for your generous contribution to the Experiential Learning Student Stipends fundraiser at the University of Dayton! With your support we were able to raise $1,120 which will directly benefit the professional development of students with financial need.

We had 19 donors contribute to this important cause and we are very grateful and thankful for all your gifts.  We are now developing a process for eligible students to apply and receive this aid for expenses associated with participating in professional conferences, training seminars, and workshops, beginning this upcoming Fall 2018 semester.

Once again, thank you for your support! Your gift will open many great opportunities for our students!

Sincerely,

Karen Velasquez, Jason Eckert, and Liz Seager
