About

The Project:

"Flyers in Hollywood" is an amazing opportunity for University of Dayton media production students.  This will be the 5th year for the trip.  Every year, a group of students travels to Las Vegas for the annual NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) convention for the industry's biggest career fair.  We then drive to Los Angeles and spend several days meeting with UD alumni who are working in the entertainment industry.  We host a networking reception with alumni so students can network and learn from industry veterans.  In the past, students have toured the CBS, FOX and Paramount studio lots.  They have watched the recording of a brand new FOX sit-com, directed by a UD alum.  They have watched the recording of Entertainment Tonight and met the anchors, reporters and producers.  They have gone head-to-head on the set of Jeopardy.  But most importantly, students have been hired as a direct result of this trip.

Who We Are:

The "Flyers in Hollywood" trip is made up of accomplished senior students, who are looking for ways to break into the media production world.  These students are managers in Flyer TV or Flyer Radio and have spent years learning about all forms of production.  Many of them are also involved in our Emmy-award winning documentary project.

What Your Gifts Will Do:

The more money raised, the more students will be able to take advantage of this incredible opportunity.  Right now, the Department of Communication handles most of the costs for the students; flights, hotel room and bus transportation.  There is a hard limit on how many students we can bring on the trip.  We're hoping to raise enough money to provide more opportunities to more students and connect them with UD alumni who can provide life-changing advice and actual jobs upon graduation.

Thank you so much for supporting "Flyers in Hollywood".  We would not be able to provide students with this incredible opportunity without your help.  Go Flyers!
