The project
Movies with Mary will bring five films to the University of Dayton campus which feature Mary. These films will be screened on campus and open to the public. They will be included in courses as faculty see fit. The International Marian Research Institute will also have various calls for art, photography, podcasts for students to further engage with the films.
The impact
This project provides access to silver screen, independent, and documentary films. Some of the films may include: "Blue Beetle"; "I am the Immaculate Conception"; and "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever." Some spots will be made available for teams of UD community members to request Marian films which align with University Learning Goals.
The University of Dayton is a diverse community committed, in the Marianist tradition, to educating the whole person and linking learning and scholarship with leadership and service. This Marian film series will take the emphasis of the Marianist tradition upon engaging with Mary as model for our daily lives. The film series will be open to the general public. This film series will be a basis to launch creative endeavors around Marian film in the future.
What your gifts will do
Your philanthropic support allows for screening of films with Mary on campus. Your gift will have a direct impact on undergraduate students' education because they will be invited to watch these films through various courses and with student organizations at no additional cost to them or their tuition. Your donation will also allow for the films to be made available for free to the public.
Funds raised over our goal will support further undergraduate research and programming on the topic of Mary.
Thank you for your support!
Thank you to everyone who has given to our campaign! You have made significant contributions to our 50th Anniversary Celebration.
We are in the final push a grateful for all who support the work of the International Research Center to learn more about Mary. Movies with Mary is one more way that IMRI makes scholarship public.

In one more exciting update as we push to the last two days of this campaign, Fr. Edward Looney hosted me on his show to have a conversation about this fundraiser and our future plans with the funds raised. Please find the conversation here. A giant thank you, Fr. Edward!
442 days ago by Neomi DeAndaThank you everyone who have donated to our project! We have reached 22% of our total goal! IMRI cannot be more grateful for the large increase in donations in the last week.
One showing of a silver screen film costs about $750, so we greatly appreciate you helping us reach our goal of 5 films with snacks for public screenings.

442 days ago by Neomi DeAndaThank you to all who have donated thus far! We have reached 17% of our goal. Along with these movie screenings, the International Marian Research Institute will be able to to further partner with faculty, staff, and students in research and course content. As an example, here are two blogs which are publicly accessible for free to accompany the movie "Blue Beetle":
ANIMO!: Religious Notes on "Blue Beetle"
and
Soundtracking ‘Blue Beetle’.
Thank you to all who have donated. We have reached 10% of our goal! With just a little over a week left, we continue to be hopeful that we can reach our goal.
In the last week, I have come across multiple popular culture pieces - television shows, stickers, and movies which engage Mary of Nazareth in some way. Your funds help us continue to engage movies which feature Mary in our educational and research endeavors. The screening fees for one movie can be up to $1000 for a single screening, so your funds make possible what otherwise could not be.
With great appreciation,
Neomi De Anda, Ph.D.
