About

The Project

The support of the UD Varsity Esports team will allow for the growth of a new and growing program at UD.  The current Rocket League team has joined the NACE (National Association of Collegiate Esports) and will be in competition with other schools this semester.

Who We Are

Students from one of the esports clubs (Rocket League) want to elevate their ability to compete nationally on a varsity level, representing UD. Our hope is to grow and include more games in the near future!

The Impact

In addition to benefiting the esports athletes, having a varsity program will promote the growing profession of esports for many majors, and it will help connect students interested in gaming with one another in community.  The objective for Varsity Esports is to enable students to compete nationally while building community throughout the UD gaming population.  In a spring 2022 survey completed by 262 UD undergraduate students, 68 percent of the respondents indicated that they were interested in competitive esports, or both competitive and casual (non-competitive) esports.  Reasons for involvement in gaming included stress relief, friendship, teambuilding, engagement, and skill development.  Varsity esports will increase the visibility of esports on campus, connecting competitive and casual players through a shared interest.

What Your Gifts Will Do

Your gift will support the current esports team, but also many teams in the future as this program begins to grow and take shape across campus.

Thanks for Your Support!

Updates
ESports Continues to Crowdfund in 2023!

Hi all,

Thanks for your previous support of this campaign!

ESports continue to be an area of growth at UD, so much so that current students involved with ESports are crowdfunding again this fall to not only alleviate the cost of competition expenses on the University, but to also assist in covering the cost of a new physical space on campus!

With your support, ESports will have more room to grow at UD! Check out the fall 2023 crowdfunding campaign to learn more!

Thanks and go Flyers!
