About

The project

We are raising money to spend 8 weeks this summer working in Salyersville, Kentucky. We will be serving and building relationships with members of the community through a number of different programs we will be organizing and running. These include a Day Camp for children, a Teen Center, and visiting a local nursing home. In addition to working within the community, the UDSAP community will be learning to live life simply in a faith based community. UDSAP is one of the University’s oldest and most beloved programs, and we are so excited to continue the tradition this summer!

Who we are

We are a group of like-minded Flyers dedicated to the pursuit of the common good through relational service. This summer we will spend eight weeks connecting with, serving, and loving the community in Salyersville, KY by running programs like Day Camp, Teen Scene, and nursing home visits. We are committed to living out the Marianist charism through living in intentional community and growing in faith together.

The impact

UDSAP's impact is near to impossible to measure. Over the course of 60 years we have walked with the community of Salyersville as they have grown and changed. Along the way, Salyersville has also walked with UD students as their world views are challenged and transformed. Mutual relationships define UDSAP, and our continued hope and goal is to meet needs of the community while also building relationships that go beyond 8 weeks each summer.

What your gifts will do

Your gifts make this entire summer possible. From letting us live out a summer of service, to being able to play games with the kids and bingo at the nursing home, your donations make it happen! This year, your gifts will also help fund major projects at the UDSAP house that we have called home for over 25 years. It's a place steeped in history, and we are grateful to continue to build relationships there again this summer.

It’s clear that there are so many things to love about UDSAP, and we only hope to spread it further! Please share this post with friends, family, and colleagues so that our story, the story of Salyersville, and the countless stories in the past 60 years of UDSAP can continue to grow.

Thanks for your support!

Your donation to UDSAP is greatly appreciated! It is impossible for our program and the other service programs of Campus Ministry to run on just our history; we need the help of our extended family and friends with prayerful and financial support. Your contributions will not only support our UDSAP community—they will help serve the Salyersville community by providing fiscal assistance for the day camp, teen center and nursing home.

Updates
UDSAP Update

Hello UDSAP donors!

Our group wanted to give one last update on this fundraising page. We wanted to give another thank you for your support of us and this program. This wouldn't be possible without the generous support from all of you! Our fundraiser's success reflects how loving and generous our communities are.

We had our final UDSAP class of the semester this week! We are very excited for the summer. Everything is going well with our preparation, including van driving practice, the 2025 Commissioning ceremony, and getting our packing lists!

We are so thankful for the opportunity we have to make an impact this summer, and one last thank you from UDSAP 2025!

Thanks,

UDSAP Update - Week 2

Hello UDSAP donors!

Thank you so much for all of your support! After just two weeks of fundraising, we have officially reached our goal!! Thanks to your help, our summer is now fully funded! This could not be possible without the amazing and loving community of people willing to support this program and the UDSAP 2025 group this summer.

We have officially met our goal, and donations are still accepted very graciously until April 10th. Excess funds will continue to be used for UDSAP and continue to support future programs in 2026 and beyond.

I also wanted to give an update on what we've been doing in our UDSAP class. The former students from UDSAP 2024 came to our class and talked to us about their job groups as UDSAP 2025 starts to plan how we will work as job groups this summer. We are beginning to plan our activities, learn about our job groups, and work together to make our structure on how we would like to organize our job groups. The formers had lots of great advice and insight.
Please continue to pray for us and our journey towards the amazing summer we hope to have.

Thank you so much for all the love and support!

UDSAP Update - Week 1

Hello all!

We want to start with a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has already supported our campaign! We cannot believe that with just over a week completed, we are already over halfway to our goal of $14,000 and that over 100 people have donated to UDSAP in the past week. Thank you all so much. UDSAP is rooted in relationships, and we know that each of us has a unique relationship with the program and this community, so thank you for the many ways you have and continue to support us.

Second, this past week in class, we did job group discernment! Together, we put the puzzle of our gifts, talents, and passions together and now have specific roles for the summer. Evan W. and Henry are on Routes, Noah N. is our Treasurer, Brooklyn and Noah L. are planning our Nursing Home activities, Annika, Patrick, Nick, and Walter will be planning Teen Scene, Molly, Evan A. and Matthew are planning Day Camp, and Erin and Alex are our Co-Directors! Please keep everyone in your prayers as we begin to plan programming and organize ourselves for the summer ahead.

Once again, thank you all so much for the support we have already received. We are so grateful and excited for the journey ahead!!!

Thanks,
